Music Team Building in Nashville

Talk about good press. Nashville’s been featured as the It City in 2014 in so many publications. And our music team building Nashville programs have doubled this year. I like to brag about our worldwide footprint and how we travel the globe delivering our team building programs, but it’s been really nice to have so many opportunities this year to make music in Music City! We’ve recently led programs for Piedmont Natural Gas, Owen Graduate School at Vanderbilt University, the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the community based Arts & Business Council of Greater Nashville. Upcoming are programs for PeerNet, National Lifespan Respite Coalition and the Association of Otolaryngology Administrators. Yes, will will be able to rhyme Otolaryngology with something!…

Fun Team Building

As soon as I saw the thumbnail from this video I knew I had to write a blog around the image. Title: Fun team building. What else could it be?!? And how well the picture and video below communicate the intense fun had by all at our recent program for the Owen Graduate School of Business at Vanderbilt University. As part of orientation, Owen staff thought it would be a natural to welcome students to Music City by having them make music themselves. Table groups broke into teams, with each team creating lyrics to a well-known melody. With twelve teams working separately, yet sharing the same ballroom, spontaneous laughter broke out from all corners and the energy level intensified as…

Team Building Drumming In Chicago

It’s fun, it’s scary and it’s thrilling when we try something new that comes out better than expected. Our team building drumming in Chicago, for Boehringer Ingelheim at the Swissotel, was all of the above. Part of this client’s goals were to challenge everyone to try something new. But this team building drumming program had other important elements that made it unique. These elements make up what we call our drum song program. When we led this corporate drumming program we brought it beyond the visceral aspect of simply banging on the drums, although that’s quite fun. We put together a program based on Boehringer Ingelheim’s goals for their Oncology Franchise conference. Team Building Drumming In Chicago Goals Bring members…

Nashville Team Building Event is a WIN

The Nashville team building event I led at the end of May was truly a WIN. WIN stands for Women In Numbers, a nonpartisan organization established to engage, encourage and endorse qualified women to be elected to public office. As a junior board member of this organization, I well know the dynamics, dedication, and powerful personalities that make up both our senior and junior boards, but we don’t often get a chance to mingle and get to know each other. This Nashville team building event presented a challenge; to help all of us coalesce around a unified message, to have fun, and get to know one another better. Nashville Team Building Event Goals Bonding and relationship building within the board…

Team Building Washington DC

During the third week of March we covered a lot of musical territory with our team building programs. I was in London helping a client create songs about the work they do while Tony nominated songwriter, Lauren Lucas, led a team building Washington DC program for us. Along with our always in demand songwriter-facilitator Rusty Tabor, Lauren led the Marriott revenue management team through a fun large group session. Team Building Washington DC Goals This client wanted a highly interactive experience that would energize their team. They needed a program that would enable people to bond and make new relationships. They wanted a take away – something tangible to carry forward… By the time we arrive on site to lead…

Team Building London 2014

Talk about visioning. Last fall my team set a goal to bring our team building with music program to Europe in 2014. Next week, Shevy Smith and myself are headed across the pond for a team building London event. There are lots of team building providers in London, so why bring us several thousand miles to lead a program? I asked myself the same question. The answer revolves around story – your story. Team Building London, Why… Your story is unique. Your story is important. Your story is your differentiator, your culture maker and your incubator. The most memorable stories are part fact, part legend, part emotion and part vision. As a songwriter, my job is that of a musical…

Our New York Team Building Event

I love writing posts for our news category because I get to share my enthusiasm when I’m fresh off a program. Last week’s New York Team Building event for Unilever IT Business Partners was fun. Additionally, it was productive. It was a positive surprise for everyone who took part. We braved a fierce snow storm and re-arranged flights, allowing flexibility to make sure we didn’t leave New York until we’d written some team building songs! New York Team Building Goals Fun – Fun is not frivolous. Quite to the contrary, fun has value. Picture yourself having fun…in that picture, are you bored? Fun and boredom are antithetical. When we establish fun as a baseline we’re guaranteeing engagement (opposite of boredom).…

September Musical Team Building Activities

I’m just gonna roll events from our September musical team building activities into one post. Because this was our busiest September and it might take me until next September to write a separate post about each event we’ve just facilitated. Part of what I sell is the power of story. Story and music = song. A powerful example of how a great identifying phrase evokes story and emotion is the Kellogg’s phrase I grew up with…They’re GR-R-REAT! (Tony the Tiger). So when I received an email inquiry from a PHD at Kellogg with a picture of Tony the Tiger and that catch phrase at the bottom of the email I was hooked. My wife and I made a long weekend…

Phoenix Team Building Events

Whew! This is my first time back home for more then three days in a row in a while, and I’m finally catching up on my to-do list. We had a great Phoenix team building event with Honeywell Aerospace back in August and I’ve been wanting to share news about it. The Honeywell Aerospace Integrated Supply Chain doesn’t get a lot of PR.  Supply chain folks tend to be behind the scenes. But they’re the people who get it all done. It’s very rewarding to bring some fun and focus to people who spend a lot of time behind the scenes quietly doing their jobs. Honeywell Aerospace Phoenix Team Building Goals Enhancing employee engagement Exploring the challenges of a changing…
