The first quarter of the year found us quite busy with team building activities in Nashville. While we continue to work throughout the US and the rest of the world, let’s face it; Nashville team building and songwriting are a natural fit. Selling a musical program in Music City isn’t too hard, but delivering a great program is an ongoing challenge that I love and embrace.
Every client we’ve led through our musical team building activities in Nashville this year has presented a unique challenge. It’s the uniqueness and varying goals of each of our clients that keeps my team engaged and focused. We can’t afford to take anything for granted, so we don’t! Here’s some of what’s been going on.
Family Farms Group
Family Farms Group is an organization made up of independent family farmers. They gathered for their annual meeting with goals to get to know one another better, share best practices, and create stories that communicate the special value of the family farmer.
We divided this group into 6 teams. Each team created a song with one of our hit songwriter-facilitators and then everyone gathered back together to perform their songs.
Here’s part of the lyric one team came up with:
3 generations of Family Farmers take the stage
We get up every morning before the sun
We got a job to do and we get it done
Row by row, round by round
We grow it up, just to cut it down

We pray for sun

We raise our kids the best we can

We live off the land
Council For Advancement And Support of Education
CASE is a worldwide organization made up of the people who advance education through development, awareness and marketing of their respective schools. We led a group of 500 people through a sixty-minute song session. Sixty minutes, 500 people…believe it or not, everyone worked together and actually wrote a song.
Hilton Worldwide University
This is the arm of Hilton Hotels that trains it’s leaders, hotel owners and managers on how to best represent the brand and deliver on what people expect from a Hilton property. There’s nothing I like better than leading a group of trainers through our our team songwriting. While groups like this already understand the value of group brainstorming and teamwork, it’s great to see how our music team building activities in Nashville enable them to re-frame what they already know and to learn new approaches to communication and problem-solving.
