Music and the Motor City go hand in hand. So it’s a natural fit when we get to facilitate our team building Detroit program. We recently led the sales team for our client, Logicalis, through an interactive musical program that included two hundred and fifty people sharing ideas to create a song about the work they do. Here’s how it works.
Our Client’s Goals
- Provide an activity that enables everyone to interact and have fun together
- Utilize the talents of our client’s musical employees
- Reinforce the conference theme of transformation
There’s real value in taking time to have fun as a team. It boosts a sense of belonging and increases engagement. At our team building Detroit event, everyone in the room became energized and engaged when we invited members of the Logicalis Sales Team on stage as our band. We did some preparation with these talented client employees before our event. This helped them get ready to take the stage with confidence. I love this picture below showing the band – and the rapt attention of the participants who aren’t on stage.
I mentioned a specific client goal above, transformation. We’re able to help our clients address specific themes and ideas during our large group brainstorming, as everyone in the room contributes lyric ideas. During the program, we’ll turn those ideas and themes into catchy song lyrics that aptly convey the essence of the work our clients are engaged in, or the essence of the products they sell, or both! Great songs tell succinct, powerful stories that communicate both message and emotion. So writing a theme song is a great way to help groups better understand the story of who they are and what they do.
