My first creative team building resolution for 2013 is to do some creative team building. Okay, I know what you’re thinking…that’s redundant or too simple. But I’m setting up a dilemma here. That introductory statement could set me up for failure. What if you decide your resolution for 2013 is to get in shape? Will you sit down and create a road map to succeed? If you don’t, then you won’t succeed. So here are some fresh thoughts on how to make creative team building resolutions for 2013 and succeed.
Creative Team Building Should Be Fun!
Have you ever seen someone having fun who appears to be bored? Of course not. When we have fun, we’re engaged in whatever we’re doing at the time. We’re in the moment and that’s part of my definition of fun. When corporate teams or other organizational teams have fun together, key team building goals happen naturally. Group fun breaks down hierarchy. And when formal roles are put aside, team members get to know one another better and establish trust in ways that don’t happen every day. Creative team building takes many forms. Of course I’m partial to my own music team building program, but any program that uses creativity to break down barriers and get participants engaged is great. Acting improv, film making and Lego workshops are just some of the great options out there.

Bring The Team Building Energy & Passion
In addition to fun, every 2013 resolution does need a plan. Are you the person in your organization who has the energy and passion to jumpstart your creative team building goals and action plan? Make your planning a team effort. Solicit ideas from your co-workers and challenge them to find creative team building programs to consider. I’ve created a guide to help boost your team interaction, energy and passion. You can download it here. It’s called DIY – Everyday Team Building. I believe it will jump start your 2013 team efforts.
A team building energizer or icebreaker can be a powerful catalyst to kickoff your creative team building for 2013. If you start your plan with a program like this, make sure you have follow up in place to sustain the feeling of bonding and renewal these events promote.
