I’m in overdrive this morning, buzzing about my to-do list and buzzing on caffeine; about to dive into this blog post with an eye on the clock so I can cross this off my list…Does that sound familiar to you? As my fingers fly across the computer keyboard typing meaningless words, I realize what a hypocrite I’m being and I STOP. Breathe, relax, slow down and re-focus….ahh, now I’m in the frame to create and share this message with you. The only reason most of you read my blog posts is because you count on me to be honest, reflective and sometimes to get you to chuckle.
Overwhelment, Change & Innovation
Well chuckle at this: I’m feeling strategically challenged. Don’t get me wrong, I do have a strategy. But Team Building Through Song is growing and changing so dang fast that yesterday’s strategy seems like today’s mistake. I know I’m not alone. I know I’m not alone. I know I’m not alone…ahh that feels better. I know from flying all over the country that most of my clients share my feeling of overwhelm. But given the choice, I’d rather be overwhelmed than underwhelmed! And given the frenetic pace, we all keep, our ability to be innovative needs to be part of our vital skill-set. The one thing we can count on is change…but how do you handle that?
The folks in the picture above are part of Wescom Credit Union’s annual Superstar Day, highlighting that every Wescom employee is a superstar and a leader within the organization. As leaders, everyone has the right and the responsibility to problem solve, to think innovatively and contribute toward keeping this company on a positive strategic path.
- What are you doing to create an innovative mindset in your organization?
- Remember, innovation is never guaranteed.
- But without experimentation, it’s guaranteed you will never achieve innovation.
