Uniquely Unique

It hadn’t occurred to me that people would search the term unique team building online. For me, unique is such an overused cliché I didn’t think folks would use it for an actual search. Yet as our Kidbilly Connector in Chief, Wendy Shumate, pointed out; people sincerely want a unique team building experience – something that reflects who they are and what they bring to the event. Wendy highlighted that unique may be cliché, but it fits what we’re doing so well, we can’t help but use it.

Cliches Like Unique are Sometimes Perfect

As a songwriter, it’s my job to avoid well worn, tired out phrases – I’ve often spent days on end searching for original ways to say something that’s been said a gazillion times before. But experience has taught me that sometimes the first thought, the well worn phrase, is exactly what needs to be used – because it says what we want to say. So I give up and I give in…I want unique stuff too, whether it’s the Chef’s special at a restaurant or for my team building experience. And maybe I shouldn’t avoid using that well worn word!

This Is Your Song – Unique Team Building

Now that I’ve thrown in the towel and decided to exclaim that our music team building program is really unique, I have to support that claim – woohoo! But here’s the cool thing. As I’ve thought about it, I’ve realized that each and every one of our events is inherently unique. Because our clients are the experience, not us. We help you tell your story through the creation of your organizational songs. It’s simply a great brainstorm: What do you do? What differentiates you? Where have you been? Where are you going? How can you sing about that new product you’ve just launched? The lyrics we’ve created with Microsoft teams are vastly different from the lyrics we’ve created with Walt Disney teams. You’re telling your corporate story and creating your corporate song.

I realized that we don’t have to sell this as unique. We simply have to show up and help you share your uniqueness with all of us – we simply have to just help you sing about it. Well…it is Saturday morning, so I think I’ll close here and head over to our unique neighborhood farmer’s market. There’s none other like it, because it reflects our neighborhood…
