Don’t Go It Alone

Being a solo entrepreneur doesn’t mean you’re all alone. Although lately it’s been feeling like that to me. My own fault really; I have a tribe, a group of professional friends who are always glad to consult, confer and commiserate. But I still have a tendency to get lost in the vortex of too much to do in too many different areas. All I really want to do is ‘the work’. For me the work is sheer pleasure, leading creative team building programs, helping people discover their latent creative ability and just generally having fun with corporate training and learning. But aargh…. there’s so much marketing that goes into getting the work: Online, and offline, virtual and real, social media and social gatherings, facebook, linkedin, twitter, what’s the latest, who did I forget to call today?!?!

Pausing To Recharge

When I feel like I’m too busy too prioritize I know I’m in trouble. At that point I’m just slogging through the never ending piles of to-do, to-do, to-do. Purpose and vision really improves efficiency and morale and there are times I lose both. This morning while using StumbleUpon I stumbled onto two blogs talking directly to me – talking about feeling overwhelmed by all the ‘out there’ out there and our tendency to get distracted by all that… One of these blogs is Life Simplified, the other is Zen Habits. Reading these blogs this morning forced me to pause, step back from the busy work and reflect…..ahh….clarity again!

Connecting To Stay Connected

So today I’m working efficiently, reaching out to my tribe and realizing I’m not alone. In fact, many small biz entrepreneurs share the same challenges I do every day, and reading about it online reminded me that I’m actually managing pretty well. I’ve already been in touch with more of my tribe today than I have in the past two weeks. Solo entrepreneurs must use their connections to stay connected, to be validated and just to have shoulders to lean on.

What Do You Do?

  • What do you do to regain your clarity when your slogging through too much ‘stuff’?
  • Who do you reach out to when your overwhelmed by your solo entrepreneurship?
  • And…What’s your business?  I’d love to know so share below!
