I’m excited to be presenting my program, Harnessing Your Creative Power at PCMA Convening Leaders in Orlando on January 16th. The Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) meeting attracts well over 3,000 conference designers, educators, networking gurus, and other motivated and successful entrepreneurs from around the globe. The meeting is touted as one of the event industry’s most comprehensive educational and networking events.

So how the heck did I get this invite? Practice, practice, practice…just kidding…well sort of but not really… When I started my program, Team Building Through Song, I wasn’t thinking about keynote speaking or educational breakout sessions. I was focused on the music team building I’m so passionate about. I was focused on the magic and power of the organizational story, the inspiration that comes when I’m immersed in group work; helping people reach higher levels of engagement and ownership of their corporate experience through the song creation process.

The Accidental Billy Kirsch Speaking Presentation!

Those of you who know me know I’m not a fan of speaking about myself in third person – that I’m being a bit ironic here. But the evolution of my speaking presentation really was accidental, or at least unintended. After participating in our corporate team building programs, folks kept asking me how they could integrate more creativity into their daily lives – Asking how they could sustain the innovative mindset they’d experienced during our events. And it occurred to me that the creative process, something I consider to be a normal daily work-life routine, is very mysterious to a whole lot of people.

Harnessing Your Creative Power – A Step-By-Step Process

So I set out to demystify the creative process by pulling back the curtain. Every process, be it creativity, scientific or academic can be broken down into steps, discipline and practice. Many practitioners don’t like to pull back their curtain but I’m all for it. There’s honestly nothing, and I mean nothing, more exciting or satisfying to me than to see the light of understanding and joy on people’s faces as they realize they do have creative ability and that they can learn how to harness creativity in their daily lives.

Information transfer, idea conferences, hanging with friends, brainstorming with colleagues…whatever you call it – energy is created when we’re engaged in creative work and it’s contagious. I discovered this while presenting at the ASTD International Conference last May, and I’m completely stoked about the upcoming speaking presentation at PCMA Convening Leaders. There’s more information on the PCMA Conference Site.
